The April edition of the Seattle Met is out and has a great little article on parkour and a UW jam. Some excerpts:

"...it's like being inside of a pinball machine, if pinball machines could be filled with ninjas..."

"..parkour is freedom. Parkour is the First Amendment of the human body..."

"...Panda spins around and, true to his name, drops to all fours, faces Hogan, and galumphs at full speed..." ;)

It's a shame it's so short and didn't make the cover, but it's really fun to read and well-written.

I'm going to wait a bit to put up any scans to see if I can get permission, but go find it and check it out! :)

They are awesome just for using the word "galumph".

I like the article in the sense that it seems to really capture the fun an enthusiasm of what we do and our local scene, the fact checking could have been better traceur = fast movers?

I liked the article overall. Anytime a writer can combine galumph and ninja in the same article, along with Escheresque, spiders, flit, careen, etc., they win mega-points in my book.
But what's with her definition of a traceur?!
I also wonder if she attended the anthro conference in Pullman...some of those lines look pretty familiar... :ninja:
Actually I meant to post the paper here on the forums but never got around to it. It's also fairly long...
But yeah, good work all around.
Oh, and very poetic there, Panda. :P

If you look hard enough you can find anything...
http://parkour.net/parkour/newbb/viewto ... post130134
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkour
http://atilf.atilf.fr/dendien/scripts/f ... mot=tracer

Think I might have mentioned that, not sure. Stuck in my mind after reading it somewhere, you really can't know for sure unless you live in Lisse-area and know the slang... But then again I've heard traceur mean so many different things.
